BKS Management is involved in various social activities as below:
The Tamil Nadu Foundation:BKS MD Mr. Senthilkumar is serving as a trustee in ‘’Tamilnadu foundation’’, a non-profit foundation created in 1974 by a group of Americans of Tamil origin who wanted to help people from their native province of Tamil Nadu in India.
The purpose of the foundation is to:
- Establish education scholarships in Tamil Nadu, India
- Help provide technical journals, textbooks and equipment to institutions of learning/ institutions of health care
- Provide assistance at times of emergency
- Act on any worthy cause affecting Tamil Nadu, India
Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission
BKS’ management provides financial support to Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission, a registered Charitable trust working with a not for profit motive. The trust aims to serve the backward sections of the population of Attappady block of Palakkad district in Kerala state, India. Overall development of the people of Attappady, especially the scheduled tribes, with freedom from illness, poverty and malnourishment has been the focus of the mission ever since its establishment. The activities of the mission have hence ranged from medical relief to education, women’s empowerment and eradication of social evils like alcoholism.
Sri Angalaparameshwari Chitthar peedam:
BKS provides financial support on a continuous basis, for education, food and various facilities for this children home which is the shelter for about 25-30 boys from very poor families.
Employment for the disabled:
BKS has identified suitable jobs for the disabled people with the help of Cheshire Homes , UK and has been employing them appropriately across the organisation. www.cheshireindia.org
BKS MD Mr. Senthilkumar is one of the founder members and currently the treasurer of Vetri Trust, which offers Ayurveda, Siddha treatments for various illnesses and provides counselling for teenagers, pregnant women and old age people.
Training & Skill Development Program :
BKS believes training is vital for creating and maintaining a quality workforce. BKS is approved for conducting training under PMKVY scheme, a national level program for skill training and certification, sponsored by Ministry of skill development, Govt. of India. Under this scheme we recruit unskilled people, train them and certify them which enables them to obtain job anywhere in the country. BKS also employs part of the workforce trained under this scheme.
We also train and certify an existing worker for the relevant skill under Recognition of prior learning (RPL) scheme. This certificate serves as a formal recognition of his/her skill and therefore increases their job opportunities.
So far, we have trained 72 people under these schemes.
BKS management is a part of ‘’ Shri Vigneshwara Educational Trust’’ which aims at providing skill training to develop quality workforce for the textile industry. The trust will be operational from 2018 and all training facilitations will be done through this trust.
Employee welfare activities :
Free Eye check up : We conduct eye checkup camp for our employees once in a year. The main objective of this event is to create awareness about eye disorders and early detection of refractive errors and eye ailments. The eye checkup camp is organized in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital Coimbatore

Yoga classes ( Valga Valamudam sky yoga ): BKS offers its employees the option of undergoing yoga classes free of cost for both basic and advanced levels.
Medical insurance: Employees who are not covered under government health schemes are covered by our company Mediclaim policy for which BKS bears 50% of the medical insurance cost.

It takes great pride in manufacturing textiles, that are valued and acknowledged by all its stake holders.
BKS has adopted various responsible manufacturing practices such as :
Zero Liquid discharge ( ZLD )
For achieving ZLD, BKS has installed an effluent treatment plant ( recycling plant ) of capacity 6,00,000 litres/day for treating its fabric processing effluent and has been successfully recycling and reusing 93% of water.
Through its own windmills, BKS generates power to meet up to 40% of its total power requirement. Last year we generated 7,55,750 units through our windmills.
BKS has a bio gas plant which converts vegetable and organic waste into cooking gas.
